Currently, the Orlando Magic are in a place that many are familiar with these past few seasons.
The Magic had hopes of continuing their road success. They also got back one of their key players from a minor injury, Aaron Gordon. He was injured since the last time the Magic played against the Nets on Jan. 18.
Just not enough
While the Magic played and fought hard, it wasn’t enough to come out with a win toward the end of the game. The Nets had two players score over 20 points as D’Angelo Russell had 25 points and Spencer Dinwiddie had 29 points. Whereas, only one player from the Magic was able to score over 20 points, Nikola Vucevic with 21 points.
During the post game interviews with the media, a few members of the team shared their thoughts on the game.
“It’s a tough loss,” Vucevic said. “We would battle, they battle. They came up on top. They played well, tough one for sure.”
Jonathan Isaac also expanded on how the team was moments away from a victory, but were unable to follow through towards the end of the game.
“Even late in the game, I thought we were gonna win, just how we were playing,” Isaac said. “We just weren’t able to make the plays late.”
Coming up short twice more
After a tough road loss, the Magic came home and suffered a tight loss to the Washington Wizards, 95-91. Vucevic finished with 28 points while Gordon had 22 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Terrence Ross dropped 16 off the bench.
After that games, Orlando went back on the road for a tough one against the Houston Rockets. Despite James Harden‘s 40 points, Orlando lost by only five, 103-98. The Magic put five guys into double figures with Gordon at 23, Vucevic at 19, Evan Fournier at 18, Ross at 15 and D.J. Augustin at 10.
The Magic host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
