After the recent away game against the Detroit Pistons, the Orlando Magic’s six-game win streak finally snapped. That’s not a huge deal considering the Magic are only a half game out of the division lead.
That isn’t anything to be concerned about. Due in part to the Magic’s poor performance against the Pistons. The Pistons’ Wayne Ellington was scoring phenomenally in the game. It does raise questions on if the team will be able to bounce back and stay on course for the reaching the playoffs.
For starters, with the Magic’s recent loss and the Miami Heat’s recent victory, it has caused the teams to switch their positions in the Eastern Conference standings. Meaning Miami is now back to being the eighth seed. Orlando is now back to being ninth seed.
Fortunately for the Magic, there are still a handful of games left to re-position themselves back into the playoff picture.
Unfortunately for the Magic, there are only a handful of games left, six to be exact, which means the team cannot afford to lose too many games. Otherwise they’ll risk missing the postseason and have to watch other teams in the East compete.
Hoping for some luck
It could be argued that the teams the Magic will play for the rest of the road trip, Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors, may want to rest their starters for the upcoming post-season. However, it’s still early to do so, but is still a possibility.
As it shows, the last handful games of the season will determine the Magic’s fate. In order to make the playoffs, a win streak may need to happen. It is projected that the Magic could possibly win games against the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets have to put in the effort, regardless if they’re expected to win or not.
