The last couple games the Los Angeles Lakers have tried experimenting with a new starting lineup. The lineup recently has been Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma and JaVale McGee. Personally, this is my favorite reason because this is the lineup with the most potentially and talent regardless of position. At the start of the season, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was starting but not playing like a starter. Caldwell-Pope definitely isn’t a top player on the Lakers.
The stats also back up that this new lineup is the lineup to keep in place. The starters played together for 23 minutes in the Lakers win against the Dallas Mavericks. Based on offensive rating and defensive rating this lineup would outscore the Mavericks by 41.2 points per 100 possessions.
Support for the Lineup
This lineup also has the support of the players.
“We have great length. We have great rebounders and we have unselfish players,” James said. “I mean, our whole team is unselfish, so I don’t want to say it like that, (but) we have great length and we find ways to complement each other.”
All in all, this is the best possible lineup Luke Walton can put out so hopefully he sticks with this for awhile. If not, there is no telling how much longer Walton could be the head coach.
