Linebacker and unrestricted free agent Nick Bellore has agreed to a contract with the Detroit Lions. The unit of linebackers for Detroit has been thin, and the team’s front office continues to work toward adding much-needed depth. Bellore is the second linebacker signed during the free agency period for the Lions.
Former Central Michigan product Nick Bellore, 27, is coming off his most successful season as a pro last year. Recording 83 tackles, while recording an interception and sack from his linebacker position.
The seven-year vet has spent the previous two season playing for the San Francisco 49ers. The other four, Bellore was a member of the New York Jets. Entering the league as an undrafted free agent, Nick Bellore has the work ethic coaches love, and his work finally began paying off last year.
Detroit will hope the momentum of production from Bellore carries on to this upcoming season. Having Tahir Whitehead battling injuries off and on last season, Nick Bellore is a solid rotational pick up capable of filling in at the inside linebacker position. With the draft approaching, don’t be surprised if Detroit looks to stay active in free agency and add veteran puzzle pieces to their defensive and offensive lineups.
Details of the contract have not been disclosed.
