There is a lot of excitement buzzing around campus after the weekend of sports the Cats just had!
Here’s your weekend recap:
Kentucky Basketball wins its third straight.
For the first time in conference play, Kentucky looked like the better team on the court from the start to the finish of Saturday night’s game in Lexington. This was a huge step forward for the team. When Kentucky started their four game skid, the Missouri game on the road was the first of those four losses. To see the growth in the team from that game to now is getting the BBN very excited. With March nearly here, things are shaping up nicely for the young Cats.
Kentucky Baseball losses their first game
The BBN really showed out for the Cats first home game of the year. There were 4,118 fans at the game, breaking the attendance record for Cliff Hagan Stadium. In what was a close game throughout, the Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season to Xavier. It went to extras and the Musketeers scored a run off of a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning – the Cats failed to score in the bottom of the inning. The guys went on to beat Oakland three times later in the week and improved to 7-1 on the season.
The FBI report shook fear in all of the BBN
College Basketball took a huge hit as a whole on Friday when Yahoo! reported on the latest FBI findings. Nearly every major name school in the country has at least one current or previous player listed as receiving something from an agent or school. Kentucky specifically had three players named in the report; Kevin Knox, Bam Adebayo, and Nerlens Noel. Kevin has been cleared internally and Nerlens accepted the loan after Kentucky’s ’13 season was over, so those two should be no worry. However, Bam’s situation is up in the air. As more info comes out, we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
The baseball team will face Western Kentucky on the road this Tuesday and then the basketball team plays Ole Miss on Wednesday. We’ll see you back next week!
