It was an interesting weekend for Kentucky Baseball, and there was a lot of recruiting news to report on. Here’s what happened this weekend:
The baseball Cats take another SEC series.
This weekend the Cats faced the Gamecocks at home and there was no shortage of runs scored for either side. On Friday, Kentucky came out on fire and put up 15 runs to South Carolina’s 1, and then on Saturday the Gamecocks did the exact same thing to Kentucky. In the rubber game, the Cats were able to get the bats going early, propelling them to a 10-5 victory. Kentucky takes on Georgia on the road this weekend.
Kevin Knox declared for the NBA draft.
While this isn’t much of a surprise, it definitely stings a little as there was a lot of hype surrounding his return for much of last week. Kevin averaged 16 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 1.5 apg this season while he helped Kentucky win an SEC Championship and advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Good luck to Kevin as he pursues his dreams to play in the greatest basketball league in the word.
E.J. Montgomery commits to Kentucky for 2018-2019
Yes, this happened Monday morning at 8:00 am, but it’s news that has to be talked about. E.J. is the 12th ranked recruit of the 2018 class and he’s going to fill a big hole down low for the Cats. We’re not sure what’s going to happen with Jarred or PJ, but getting E.J. makes it a lot easier to lose one of those guys. He will be a great fit next year!
That’s it! Come back next week to get the latest on everything that’s going on in Kentucky sports.
