This was a jam-packed weekend for Kentucky athletics. The Bahama’s trip went extremely well and Kentucky football is in full swing. Here’s what went down this weekend:
Kentucky dominated in the Bahama’s
If fans weren’t already excited for the upcoming basketball season, this weekend gave members of the BBN every reason to gloat about the team and year ahead. Now, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, but it’s definitely exciting to see the way this team man-handled professional basketball players. But what was more impressive was to see the way this team played together so early in the year. There were times where they were sloppy, but for only being together a month, their fluidity was impressive. It’s going to be an exciting year to be a Kentucky fan, that’s for certain.
Mark Stoops was verbally upset after Kentucky’s first scrimmage
Kentucky football scrimmaged for the first time this season on Saturday against one another and it was clear that Mark Stoops was not happy. “I thought it was just not good enough today,” stoops said. “Not a good enough scrimmage. I really was disappointed to be honest with you.” This is not what you want to hear. Mark usually isn’t the one to be verbally upset with the media, but clearly the team played poor enough that he felt they may have needed a message. This team is plenty talented to have a good year, let’s hope this message was received and the Cats perform better going forward.
Oscar Tshiebwe could join the Kentucky basketball 2019 class
Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader reported that an offer for the four-star recruit from Virginia should be coming soon. He’s the No. 56 player in the country and the No. 12 center in the 2019 class. Roberts has close ties to the West Virginia program, but if John Calipari comes knocking, he will listen. We’ve seen Cal do this with other guys who usually end up climbing the ranks. Tshiebwe is a versatile big man that should have a monster senior season that gets him some more national attention. Cal wants to be in on it, so I’m sure there will be an offer extended soon.
