The Kentucky Wildcats are getting ready to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Tournament.  This is the second time these teams will see each other this season.  Last matchup the Cats won 66-61 in a close one at Rupp.  Now when the games really matter the team will need to be playing their best ball.  Here’s what to expect from Kentucky this afternoon.

Better game from Kevin Knox

Last game in December when these teams played it was a rough game for Kevin Knox. Knox scored only seven points on just 2-10 shooting from the field.  Now that it’s March the team needs to be playing at their best every game.  If the Cats want to move on and win the tournament they need Knox now more than ever.  We’ll see how he comes to play this afternoon.

Stop Yante Maten

Last time they played Georgia forward Yante Maten was a beat for the Bulldogs.  He ended the game with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  In order to get past Georgia they will need to hold him both scoring and on the glass.  With that being said the Cats will need big games from their big men.  Today will be a game where PJ Washington, Nick Richards and Sacha Killeya-Jones will be needed.  It’ll be interesting to see what lineups John Calipari throws at them today.

Big Game Shai

If the team wants to make a run they will need even more big games from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.  Last game against Georgia, Shai had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.  When he can do it all for the team they often are at their best.  We’ll see if he can lead the team to victory today because they will need him to be ready to go moving forward.

Today’s game tips off at 3:25 on ESPN.  Let’s hope the Cats can stay focused and bring another SEC title back to Lexington.
