On Monday Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari and assistant Joel Justus met with 2019 big man James Wiseman.  Wiseman is the number one recruit in the 2019 class.  With the 2018 class all but set Calipari is already looking ahead.  If he can land Wiseman this will be a huge pickup for the Wildcats.  Here’s how the in home visit went.

How’d it go?

According to Wiseman himself, in an Instagram post he said “First in-home visit was a success.” He posted that caption with a picture of him and both coaches.  The fact that he took the time out to post the picture and put it up is a good sign for Kentucky.  Wiseman has the potential to be the next star big man to put on the Kentucky jersey.  If the Cats can land him they will surely have one of the top recruiting classes in the nation once again.

What’s next?

After this visit Wiseman talked to Cats Pause and said “Coach Cal said he wants to coach me and can help me reach my full potential of getting to the league.”  Getting him to the league is something Coach Cal can definitely do.  He’s the master of getting the most out of players and getting them to the NBA.  But, Kentucky isn’t the only school in the running for Wiseman. Memphis is starting to starting to gain a lot of traction as well.  Memphis new head coach Penny Hardaway coached Wiseman before so there is already a relationship there.  We’ll see just who he chooses soon.

Picking up an elite big man like Wiseman would be crucial for the 2019 recruiting class.  Getting the top player in the class could lure others to come join him.  We’ll see if Calipari still has some tricks up his sleeve.
