Today is the Kentucky Wildcats annual Blue-White Spring football game. As Mark Stoops and his team prepare for tonight’s game there’s going to be a lot of eyes on his offense and defense. With the offense besides Benny Snell there has been quite a few questions. The biggest being who will be starting at quarterback? Tonight we’ll get a glimpse of that and the competition between them. Also defensively we’ll get a chance to see just how good our defense can be returning 10 of 11 starters from last season. Here’s who I am excited to see play in the spring game tonight.
Returning for his junior season Kentucky football has high expectations for Benny Snell. After having two consecutive 1,000 yard seasons he’s bound to get another this season. After two elite seasons in the SEC this season he will catch more of the public’s attention. I expect Benny to have another dominant season and help carry the team throughout the season. Especially after getting kicked out of the bowl game last season he will be back with a chip on his shoulder.
Returning for his senior season is safety Mike Edwards. Last season Edwards was a major piece to the defensive scheme. He led the team last year in both interceptions and tackles. He became only the 4th person to do that in Kentucky football program history. After being voted to the All-SEC First Team he will be another major part to the defense this coming season. After this year keep an eye out for Edwards because he has the potential to be NFL bound.
The spring game tonight will be Big Blue Nation’s first opportunity to see the new Juco transfer Terry Wilson. Wilson is a dual threat quarterback with a lot of potential. The former Oregon commit is fighting for the starting quarterback position. Between he and Gunnar Hoak the quarterback competition is sure to be a good one. Tonight we will see if all the Terry Touchdown hype is real.
Tonight’s spring game is at 6:30 at Kroger Field. Big Blue Nation come out and support the Cats and get your first glimpse of the 2018 team.
