Les Miles and staff continue to make waves on the recruiting trail as they picked up a verbal commitment from 4-star linebacker Brennon Scott of Dallas, Texas.

Scott, who visited campus back on June 20, had a final five of KU, Texas, Auburn, USC, and Oregon. Scott’s offer list however was over 30 schools long, according to Rivals.com.

Some of the other schools on his list included:

The fact that Kansas was even in consideration with this upper echelon of college football programs tells you all you need to know about the impact that Les Miles has in the world of recruiting. The fact that Scott picked the Jayhawks tells you that the future is brighter than ever in Lawrence.

The future is brighter because they are getting the type of talent that can help them compete and eventually win against the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, and the rest of the Big 12. Earlier this week, KU also picked up a commitment from 3-star WR Lawrence Arnold – who held offers from Cal, Iowa State, Wisconsin, KSU, and others.

Kansas appears to have the training facilities and the coaching staff in place to compete with their Big 12 counterparts. The only thing missing is a greater collection of talent on the field for them to coach.

With the commitments of Scott, Arnold, and the rest of the Top 25 nationally ranked recruiting class, the Jayhawks are well on their way to solving the last piece of the puzzle.

Don’t look now but the Jayhawks are coming…

Being a Kansas fan was never a choice for me. In fact, my dad told me that a KU basketball game was on TV while I was being born. I guess it was fate! I grew up in Topeka, KS surrounded by a family full of Jayhawks. When it came time for me to go to college there was only one place I applied and only one place I wanted to go – KU. I grew up playing basketball and baseball and still attempt to play to this day. Although, I’ve now fully embraced the slow pitch softball phase of my life. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll notice I’m an equally passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan and a supporter of all KC sports. Rock Chalk!
