The 76ers needed Embiid back to settle everything down, and he delivered. Despite pleas to fire the coach, the 76ers are in solid position holding unto the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
MVP Type Player
When the Sixers are without Embiid for a game, they don’t even look like the same team.
In their last two games since his return, they’ve outrebounded the Cleveland Cavaliers and Pacers by a combined total of 112-81. Embiid has accounted for 31 of those rebounds.
His ability to protect the rim and control the paint were dearly missed during his absence. In their most recent game against the Cavs, he blocked several shots late in the fourth quarter. He made all four of his free throws to close the game.
The Sixers defense has played better over the last two games holding the Pacers and Cavs to under 100 points each. Embiid deserves much of the credit for their improvement.
They might not have beaten the Cavaliers without him.
Besides winning games, developing chemistry is the most pivotal part for this team with just 14 games left.
J.J. Redick and Embiid have struggled executing dribble hand-offs in the past two games. Before Embiid’s knee issues, the DHO was clicking for the Sixers and was devastating for opposing teams to cover.
They haven’t figured everything out yet on the offensive end. Roles are still being defined and the miscommunications are still way too frequent.
Those issues can be attributed to the new guys in the lineup and injuries.
Hopefully, they have enough time to fix it.
