The Philadelphia 76ers look like they’re ready to live up to already large expectations.

They’ve dominated each of their opponents throughout the preseason including a 106-86 win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

The team’s average margin of victory in the last three games was 21.6 points.

While new guys including Josh Richardson and Matisse Thybulle have looked impressive, let’s not forget about Joel Embiid.

Nothing new from Embiid

When it was announced the Pistons would be without both Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin, it was evident Embiid would dominate the game.

Backups Thon Maker and Christian Wood had a tough time handling Embiid.

He finished the first half with 20 points and seven rebounds.

Embiid appeared to be in mid-season form despite only playing 22 minutes. He forced contact to get to the free throw line and showed off his mid-range game when given space.

Granted it’s only the preseason and teams usually aren’t playing their normal rotations. It’s important for him to use this time to build up his conditioning and destroy mismatches when given the chance.

If the Sixers are serious about getting the first seed in the Eastern Conference, they need Embiid ready to dominate when the season starts next week.

These preseason games give him a chance to build up to those lofty expectations.
