Wisconsin star and team captain and linebacker Jack Cichy will miss the entirety of the 2017 season with a torn ACL, the team announced Thursday.

Cichy, a senior, was named to the Bednarik Award, Nagurski Trophy and Lott IMPACT Trophy watch lists for 2017.

Cichy missed a chunk of time in 2016 with a pectoral injury that he sustained against Michigan State last September.

The Somerset native broke onto the scene for the Badgers with his ‘3-sack Jack’ performance in the 2015 Holiday Bowl against USC, where he sacked USC quarterback Cody Kessler on three straight downs.

The Badgers will have to look to their depth at linebacker in order to replace Cichy, who was a key cog in a strong returning defense.

The Badgers are by far my favorite team but I also root for the Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers. I am also a pretty big soccer fan. I watch USA, Ireland and Everton intently and passionately.
