The best nickname in college football plays QB at Kentucky
Let the Terry “Touchdown” Wilson era in Lexington begin. After a tight lipped training camp, Coach Mark Stoops, finally announced that Wilson would in fact be the starting quarterback for the Cats season opener on Saturday against Central Michigan. I think it is fair to say that the decision to start Wilson over Hoak pleases the Big Blue Nation. Nothing at all against Hoak, but the style of play that Wilson is known for will definitely add some excitement to a year already riddled with optimism. If Terry Wilson can live up to his nickname while still having an option like Benny Snell in the backfield, then the SEC East will be on notice.
If Wilson can get things rolling he will be one of the only true duel threat QB’s in the SEC East. I like the sound of that.
With Terry Touchdown running the show, UK will have the only dual-threat QB in the SEC East as long as Keller Christ beats out Jarrett Guarantano in Knoxville.

It’s awesome that Kentucky’s starting quarterback has a nickname of touchdown and he can hand the ball off to a guy named Benny Snell. So many good opportunities for clever word play if Kentucky can find some success this season.
-Kelly Bryant starting at Clemson
-Kellen Mond starting at A&M
-Feleipe Franks starting at Florida
-Nick Fitzgerald suspended
-Cole Kelley starting at Arkansas
-Terry Wilson starting at Kentucky
Here was Mark Stoops exact quote on the announcement of Wilson as the starter.
“I feel like we have a great quarterback room,” Stoops said. “With the other quarterbacks, with Gunnar Hoak and Danny Clark in particular, they’ve put up a great fight and they’ve done a lot of things in a lot of ways to win the job as well. Ultimately, with all the things that we looked at we decided on Terry, and we’re excited about Terry and what he’s going to do this week.”
I think it is fairly obvious that Wilson is the most athletic option for UK to put on the field. But maybe more importantly he is the player that gives Kentucky the best chance to be the greatest version of themselves that they can be at the end of the season. Don’t forget that Terry Wilson has not played a college football game in a long, long time, and has never played a game in the SEC. He has also been known to turn the ball over. So the beginning of his tenure may require some patience.
Is it Saturday afternoon yet?
