At one point of his career, Dwight Howard was labeled as one of the best centers in the league. We all remember his years on the Orlando Magic where he was one of the most dominant players in the league and looked liked an MVP level player.

Currently, those times have changed even though he has shown flashes of his Orlando days from time to time he has never fully returned to that player. With all that said, would his accolades and accomplishments be enough for him to make the Basketball Hall of Fame?

Accolades

In his career, Howard has racked up quite a bit of accolades. He is an eight-time All-Star and a three-time defensive player of the year. He was named to the All-NBA First Team five times, All-NBA third team twice and All-NBA second team once. On top of that, he’s a slam dunk champion, four-time All-Defensive first team and All-defensive second team once.

Howard was also named to the All-Rookie first team, led the league in rebounds five times and blocks twice. He led the Magic to the NBA Finals in 2009.

Howard is currently 14th on the NBA All-Time Rebounding leaders and 17th on the All-Time Blocks list.

Even with his later stints in the Southeast Division not being the best, Howard was still and is still a good player. Players and fans alike have called him soft and a bad teammate. Don’t be surprised on the day that Howard decides to call it a career, that his name isn’t immediately thought of as a hall of fame guy. He will be included with all the other greats who have picked up a basketball in the basketball hall of fame in Springfield, Mass.
