Can I get a Snell Yeah!

The rest of the country is starting to learn what Kentucky fans have known for some time; Benny Snell is one of the best running backs in all of college football. After totaling 175 yards on 27 carries on the road against Florida, Snell, has begun to get the national accolades that he deserves. Now it is now longer just Kentucky or SEC followers that are noticing Snell’s greatness.

Could he be the best running back in college football?

First off, it’s important to keep in mind that running over SEC defenses is not something that is new to Benny Snell. As a true junior, Snell has tallied some ridiculous stats that put him atop many of the all tim rushing records at UK. He continues to show what he can do against the best defenses in the best conference.

After the game Snell didn’t hesitate to shout to the rooftops that he has the best offensive line and best quarterback in the nation. His energy and passion is infectious, it is clearly motivating his teammates, as well as the fan base.

Here is what Snell had to say in the post game press conference about the trash talk that has transpired between him and opposing players.

“Me saying I’m the best running back at the little Media Day, I feel like there’s a target on my back because the media says it to them. You know what I’m saying? I overcome adversity; this team overcomes adversity. So, watch your mouth. You know what I’m saying? Yeah.” Snell told reporters at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

The tweet that Benny Snell sent after the game perfectly describes the type of player and person he is.

If Benny isn’t the best, who is?

The Big Blue Nation firmly believes that Snell is the very best back at the college football level. But there are some other names worthy to be in that conversation. A few names that come to mind are Johnathan Taylor of Wisconsin and Bryce Love of Standford. Here is how the players stats have compared through the first two weeks of the season:

  1. Benny Snell – 47 attempts, 300 yards, 2 TD
  2. Jonathan Taylor – 51 attempts, 398 yards, 5 TD
  3. Bryce Love – 40 attempts, 165 yards, 1 TD

Winning is really what is going to keep driving these comparisons, especially when discussing things like the Heisman Trophy. I am not ready to go that far when discussing the potential of Benny Snell. But if Kentucky can 3 of the next 4 games and Benny Snell can put up some big stats, you may start to hear his name in that conversation.
