Every team wants all the best possible players they can get but does it get to a point where a team has too many players that must receive minutes?

The Lakers may be in that position this season. Luke Walton has already said that he wants a 10-man rotation but there’s more than 10 guys on the roster who deserve and can compete for minutes. There are 12 guys who you can name off the bat who deserve minutes (in no particular order).

  1. Lebron James
  2. Brandon Ingram
  3. Lonzo Ball
  4. Kyle Kuzma
  5. Josh Hart
  6. Rajon Rondo
  7. JaVale McGee
  8. Lance Stephenson
  9. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
  10. Svi Mykhailiuk
  11. Michael Beasley
  12. Moe Wagner

These 12 guys all deserve minutes. Beyond them, you have other rotation players who can compete for minutes like Alex Caruso, Joel Berry II, Ivica Zubac, Johnathan Williams.

What will Luke do?

What Walton will most likely decide to do is to have his 10-man rotation while giving guys games off every so often. When you have veterans on the team you must make sure they have enough rest. With the Lakers depth, it will give players rest when needed. It also gives the Lakers insurance if a player gets hurt. A bunch of the young rotation guys like Caruso, Berry, and more probably won’t get much playing time with a healthy lineup. If someone is hurt, those players will most likely have opportunities to see the court. All-in-all, Luke Walton will have a challenge on his hands of managing the rotation and keeping everyone happen. The depth will provide the Lakers with many positive advantages throughout the season.
