Football season is right around the corner.  Mark Stoops and his Kentucky football team are ready for the season to get underway. After back to back years of tough bowl game losses Kentucky is hoping third times the charm.  With something to prove, get ready Big Blue Nation, you’re in for a hell of a football season.  Here’s how many games I think they’ll win, lose, or could be toss ups.

Wins

The Wildcats open up their season with a game against Central Michigan.  This is a game the Cats should come out victorious in.  Although Central Michigan will keep the game close.  Don’t expect blowout but Kentucky takes this one to start the season.  After a trip to Florida the Cats return home to face Murray State.  Kentucky should win this game as well.  Murray State is the little brother in this situation so I expect UK to beat them with ease.  The next win they will have is coming against conference rival South Carolina.  They haven’t beat the Cats in a few years and I look for this streak to keep going.  The next games they win will also come from conference rivals Missouri and Vandy.  I expect them to both be close games but for Kentucky to come out with the win in both.  The last game I think is a for sure win is against Middle Tennessee. With MT coming to Lexington and close to the end of the year the Cats will have something to prove.  I expect them to come out on top in this one.

Losses

With six games that should be lock wins there’s also games I believe that are going to be tough for Kentucky and they lose.  I think their first definite loss will come on the road against Texas A&M.  Traveling to College Station is always tough and I expect it to just be too much for the Cats.  The two other losses I think they will take also come against conference opponents.  I think Kentucky will lose to Georgia when they come to Lexington.  After such a great season last year Georgia will be playing no games in the regular season, especially on the road.  I also think the Cats lose to Tennessee in Knoxville.  We always seem to struggle against the Vols and I think that continues this year.  Overall I think there are only three definite losses on the schedule this season.

Too Close to Call

With their definite wins and losses there are still a few games that I think could come down to the final drives.  The first one begins with the Florida Gators.  It’s been 30+ years since Kentucky has beaten Florida and last year the streak was almost snapped.  Both teams are aware of the streak and are fighting to make history or keep their streak alive.  Just like last year this game will come down to the wire.  The other games I think will be too close to call are Mississippi State and Louisville.  Each year these games are battles and I think next year will be the same.  These games are going to be so close so expect these three games to go either way.

Kentucky kicks off their season off September 1st at home against Central Michigan.
