The Atlanta Hawks have a young, enticing trio of Trae Young, John Collins, and Kevin Huerter. They’ve all improved through the season and their chemistry has been great as well. All three have different things they bring to the team and together it can create chaos for the other team.

Recently, Young talked about how teams either have to give up a three from Kevin or a dunk from Collins: it’s definitely a pick your poison concept. Collins talked about how next year him and Trae’s chemistry will be unmatched, as we’re just seeing wrinkles of something special now. Thinking into next year and beyond, how dangerous can this trio be for the Hawks?

The sharpshooter

Kevin Huerter has proved this season he can hit from anywhere, and he can get hot at any time. He can be streaky at times, but when he’s on watch out. Huerter has seemed to find his groove again after a mini slump, which has helped the Hawks offense out a lot. Not only can Huerter be a microwave on offense, but he can also defend at a high level as well. When he has these things going for the Hawks, he can be the most dangerous of of the trio on both sides of the ball.

The anchor in the middle

John Collins has been the most consistent of the trio and can have a breakout game at any moment. Yes, Collins is a rebound machine but it’s what he does on the offensive side that makes him versatile. He’s great around the rim and has also developed a perimeter shot to go along with his game. One of things that could make Collins even more dangerous is his playmaking around the basket. Finding the right guy while in the post can open up the Hawks offense with shooters around him. Collins second-year development only proves that he’ll get better as time progresses

The playmaker

Not the sharpshooter, but the playmaker. We all know Young has the green light when it comes to his 3-point shooting, but it’s his playmaking that makes this trio and the Hawks as a whole a good team. Young finds ways to impact the game when he’s not having a good shooting night. When Young is in pass first mode, that opens up his offense, and then the Hawks will truly have three dynamic scorers on the court.

Mediocrity and heartbreak. That’s what your life consists of being an Atlanta sports fan, and I’ve lived it for years now. The Atlanta Hawks have been labeled as mediocre for 10 years straight. Even when they were one of the best teams in 2015, they were swept by the Cavaliers in the Conference Finals. The Falcons are nothing different. Mediocre enough to get to the playoffs, and then vulnerable enough to break your hearts at the end. I know you watched the Super Bowl. So as an Atlanta fan you’re either going to get one or the other. It’s sad to say, but I’m numb to it. One day we’ll break this curse, the question is when?
