Tennessee takes on Georgia in the midst of a disaster of a season. At 1-3 Tennessee desperately needs a big win to turn their season around. But that’s much easier said than done. Georgia comes in at 4-0 and is ranked number 3 in the country. At this point even the most optimistic Tennessee fans don’t see them winning this one

Who are they?

Kirby Smart is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Dawgs. He’s had tremendous success in his four years. Last year they won the SEC east and won the SEC the year before that. This year most UGA fans are hoping to win their first national title since Jimmy Carter was in office. Unfortunately, they are probably viewing the game this week as insignificant in the grand scheme of their season

Offense

On offense the Bulldogs are extremely lethal. Junior QB Jake Fromm is doing great even without some of his familiar weapons at receiver. Coming into the season I didn’t think that the offense would be as good as in previous years because they lost their OC to Tennessee and they lost a lot at receiver. But despite all of that they seem to be firing on all cylinders. At running back is where The Dawgs are really scary. With Junior D’Andre Swift and Brian Herrien look to be one of the most lethal rushing attacks in all of college football. Tennessee is extremely thin at Linebacker and weak at Defensive line. So, Georgia may be able to do some nasty things on offense this Saturday.

Defense

Defensively Georgia is also extremely elite. You might not know all the players names on this side of the ball, but you will see it with how few points teams are able to put up on them. Georgia ranks ninth in total defense with only allowing 262 yards per game. In comparison, Tennessee ranks 42nd in total defense with allowing 339 yards per game. With players like Tyler Clark and Tae Crowder leading the way, Georgia is tough as Hell on defense.

Conclusion

All together Tennessee probably isn’t going to win this game. It’s sucks, but Georgia is just flat out better than The Vols. But in this game Tennessee could figure some things out where they could be better later in the season. QB Brian Maurer is getting the start and Jarrett Guarantano is not starting for the first time since 2017. It will be really interesting to see what the offense looks like with him leading the way

Prediction: Georgia 41 Vols 17
