The Georgia football team received some bad news this week concerning one its prospects from the 2018 recruiting class. 4-star defensive back Nadab Joseph will not join the Dawgs this summer and instead has enrolled in junior college.

Joseph was a recruiting flip from Alabama that Kirby Smart was able to get during the last stages of the 2018 recruiting cycle. This news about Joseph is disheartening because he was going to have a chance to make an impact in Georgia’s defensive backfield as a freshman. Although talent is not an issue with Georgia’s secondary in 2018, depth certainly is. Not having Joseph join the team hurts the Dawgs in that regard.

The decision for Joseph to enroll in junior college is related to academics. It’s possible he could join the Dawgs for the 2019 season if things go well for him there. It appears that Joseph will stick with his commitment to the Dawgs despite this setback. Whenever he eventually gets on campus in Athens, Kirby Smart will be getting a talented defensive back who will be able to make an impact right away.
