June 4th turned out to be a bad day for the Georgia baseball team. Earlier in the day, the Dawgs seemed to be in prime position to win the Athens Regional. Unfortunately, the Duke Blue Devils had other ideas.

The Dawgs had two opportunities to beat Duke today but couldn’t get the job done. Duke won the first game against Georgia 8-5 and beat the Dawgs again just a few hours later 8-4. Duke advances to the Super Regionals stage of postseason play and Georgia’s season is officially over.

The Dawgs finished a spectacular season with a final record of 39-21. This team has a great deal of talent and potential moving forward. It will be a long offseason after losing to Duke twice in the same day (on the Dawgs’ home field) but this team will be back next season with revenge on its mind.
