Week 3 of Fortnite’s Summer Skirmish was a duo showdown between some of the best Fortnite pairings in the world. The rules for this week were pretty similar to last week’s solo showdown. 46 professional duos all join the same game and jump off the battle bus. They were then awarded either two points for getting five or more kills during the game or five for winning the victory royale. The first duo to get 13 points was the winner.

The event was split up into two days. The first day was for all of the North American competitors and the second day the European teams.

North American Results

Going into this week the favorites to win were FaZe Tfue and FaZe Cloakzy because of their impressive performances in the Friday Fortnite tournaments. The Faze duo had a fantastic plan in game one and almost came away with the victory royale, but ended up placing third. Battle Royale game modes are difficult to be consistent in because of the randomness of the storm, and it is difficult even for amazing players like Tfue and Cloakzy to win games. On the last match of the second day, last-minute invitees named Zayt and Saft got seven kills plus the victory royale to win the event. Having professional players face off against each other leads to a lot of crazy plays, here are a few from day one of the competition:

European Results

The North American side of the competition was filled with some of the biggest Twitch streamers and popular gamers in the world, but many believe that the EU side had the most skillful players to compete. After eight games played. there was a four-way tie with ten points between four different duos. That meaning if any of those duos got the victory royale, then they would win the tournament in game nine. It was a close finish, but Atlantis Mitro and Atlantis Magin got the victory royale and won first place. Here is a full leader board finish of day two.

I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. I recently graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am currently living in Chattanooga, Tennessee with my 2 dogs Luke and Leia. Watching Stranger Things, hiking trails, and eating pasta are some of my favorite hobbies. Video Games and Sports have always been two of my main passions. They are both the perfect combo of enjoyment and competition. I am very excited to see eSports gaining so much popularity especially with the rise of Fortnite. One of my favorite quotes actually comes from a video game. “Don’t ever stop. Always keep going, no matter what happens and is taken from you. Even when life is so unfair, don’t give up.” –Ezio (Assassins Creed II)
