Epic Games seems to be doing everything right to continue to grow and expand their game. Their next step, in the insane phenomenon that is Fortnite, is their $100 million World Cup.
According to Epic Games the $100 million prize pool will be split between several events throughout the 2018-19 season. Epic wants their prize pool to be given out to players of all different types of skill level. That means that events will be held locally, online, and for competitive organizations. Epic Games has been very vocal about their competitive scene. Which will consist mostly of solo and duo match ups. However there’s no doubt that, with a lot of very talented squads forming, that squad esports will become important in the near future.
Qualifiers for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup will begin in the Fall of 2018. With millions of viewers watching Fortnite streamers and 125 million Fortnite players competing worldwide, this is sure to be a massive esports circuit. Scheduling for events are soon to be released in the coming months. Their slogan for the 2018-19 season is “Anyone can participate, anyone can win.”
