The Florida Gators have landed 4-star offensive tackle William Harrod. He will come to the Gators in 2019 after completing his senior year at National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Harrod is currently ranked as the number 31 offensive tackle in the country in the class of 2019. He chose Florida over offers from Michigan, Georgia, Kentucky and others. He announced his commitment on Monday following a visit to Gainesville this past weekend. After experiencing game day in the Swamp, he officially committed.
Harrod is 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds. He is the fourteenth player to commit to the Florida Gators in the class of 2019.
The addition of Harrod is great for Dan Mullen and the Gators. At the home opener on Saturday, there were major differences in the way the offensive line played from last season. In past years, the line struggled and prevented the Gators from making big offensive plays. Mullen’s recruiting strategy and coaching style has set them up for success in the years to come.
With Harrod joining the team, the Gators will have even more offensive ammunition. He is the fourth man on the offensive line to commit to the Gators for the 2019 season. The others are 4-star offensive tackle Wardrick Wilson, 3-star offensive guard Riley Simonds and 3-star offensive tackle Ethan White.
Left tackle Martez Ivey, a standout for the Gators, is a senior this season. That will leave Stone Forsythe, Noah Banks and Jawaan Taylor the veteran starters at the offensive tackle position in the 2019 season. This means there will be plenty of opportunity for all four of the new recruits to see some play time their first season.
It’s safe to say that the Florida Gators we all know and love is back. The Mullen era will be one to remember.
