The Florida Gators coaching staff has hit a home run. After the departure of 4-star quarterback commit Matt Corral, the staff began to scramble to find their next signal caller. It appears they found him.

4-star dual-threat prospect Emory Jones (Franklin, Ga.) has been an Ohio State commit since late September, but on Wednesday he spurned the Buckeyes and signed with the Florida Gators.

Two weeks ago, Jones told SEC Country, “If he [Mullen] does reach out to me, I would probably go up there to check it out if I have the time.”

Well, Mullen called and Jones answered. The Under Armour All-American quarterback traveled down to Gainesville over the weekend for an official visit with the Gators.

After being impressed with the campus and the new culture of the coaching staff, plus the early playing time opportunity, Jones couldn’t pass up the scholarship offer.

Florida’s quarterback play was a disaster during the previous two coaching staffs, and Mullen’s journey to flip the script begins with adding Jones to the roster.

Jones brings a versatile skillset with him to Gainesville. He will join Feleipe Franks and Jake Allen in the spring competition for the starting quarterback spot.

Jones possesses all the right tools for the job and has a realistic shot at earning the number one spot in his first season.

According to 247sports, Jones is the 4th-rated dual threat quarterback and the nation’s 40th-ranked overall prospect.
