Tigers Key Player
QB Drew Lock
The Tigers are trusting Drew Lock to lead Missouri to a victory. Lock is also dealing with the pressure of looking to get the Tigers’ first conference win in the SEC, and look to do it at home against a struggling Gators team.
Gators Key Player
QB Malik Zaire
Malik Zaire is taking the Gators’ offense under his control. After getting the call for Florida under Randy Shannon, he is looking to take the offense to the promised land, and to a fourth conference victory on the road at Missouri.
Game Preview and Analysis
The Florida Gators are now in the middle of an experiment. With Jim McElwain gone and Randy Shannon coming in, this is, without question, a make-or-break football game for the Gators. They will travel to Columbia to face off with the Missouri Tigers in a noon showdown.
Firstly, not only is this the inaugural game for Randy Shannon’s tenure as the head coach for Florida, but this will also have another first for Florida. Quarterback Malik Zaire, who transferred to Florida from Notre Dame earlier this year, will get his first start on Saturday to start a Shannon Shakeup in Gainesville.
While Zaire starting may seem like it could be the start of something great, Saturday will be the most important game for Florida solely for a look at how the rest of the season will play out for the boys of Gainesville.
Secondly, with Florida going 3-3 on the season and coming off a humiliating loss to Georgia in Jacksonville one week ago, the Gators are looking to stop the bleeding on a free-falling season.
Shannon Takes Interim Reins With Just One Focus: Missouri.
With the world crashing down around the organization, this is the time for Florida to put out the flames of despair known as the 2017 college football season. Florida needs to bring an extinguisher, because a loss would continue a horrible, horrible thing.
