Season 7 of the ESL Pro League keeps moving forward with CS:GO action. In a week where only eight of North America’s twelve teams played, there have been some small changes in the standings.

#1 Team Liquid (7-0 1-0)

Movement: +1

Liquid is, in my opinion, the best team in North America right now. They sit undefeated with seven wins, one overtime win and 23 points to put them at number one in the standings. This week they beat lowly Team Dignitas and middle of the pack Renegades. But they did took a series from Cloud9 in week 1. Next week they can further cement their spot on top of the North American rankings if they can win games against 4 Rogue and 2 Luminosity.

#2 NRG Esports (6-0 0-0)

Movement: -1

NRG was inactive this week which means they are still undefeated this season. Next week expect NRG to pick up wins against 8 Ghost Gaming and 12 Dignitas. They’ll also be tested against 10 Cloud9 who despite their place in the standings will be a hard match-up for NRG.

#3 Luminosity Gaming (6-3 0-1)

Movement: =

Luminosity traded wins this week with 4 Rogue and are sitting at number two in the standings. They have hard games against 1 Team Liquid next week but have 9 Splyce on Wednesday who dropped four games this week.

#4 Cloud9 (2-3 0-1)

Movement: =

Cloud9 was inactive this week and though the Major Champions are sitting below .500 they do have the best players overall in the division. They’ve only played six games and will be playing six next week against 3 NRG Esports, 8 Ghost Gaming and 7 compLexity Gaming. I expect Cloud9 to be above .500 after next week.

#5 Rogue (5-5 0-0)

Movement: +1

Rogue traded wins with Luminosity this week. The week before they traded with OpTic and the week before that they traded with Splyce. They’ve only lost one series outright against 3 NRG Esports. But I think Rogue is going to run into some trouble next week. They play against 1 Team Liquid and a talented but struggling 11 SK Gaming. They also play 7 compLexity Gaming. Next week will be a test for Rogue and we hit they half way point of the season they will need to do more then trade wins.

#6 Renegades (4-3 1-0)

Movement: +1

Renegades this week took down 9 Splyce with ease and had some good games against 1 Team Liquid in a losing effort. Renegades are a team that may be interesting looking at moving forward though right now they are in the middle of the pack. They’ll be playing against 5 OpTic Gaming next week.

#7 OpTic Gaming (5-3 0-0)

Movement: -2

I understand that OpTic is a new team but after posting a 4-2 record in week 2 you would expect them to run over a team like Ghost who was 0-4 last week and dead last in the standings. Instead in game 1 they got beat 4-16 and in game 2 squeaked by winning 16-13. OpTic is luckily still 5-3 and there are worse teams in the division. They have have time to get better as a unit. They have winnable matches against 9 Splyce and 6 Renegades next week, though Renegades will be a tough series.

#8 compLexity Gaming (3-4 0-1)

Movement: +1

compLexity was inactive this week. They have games against 4 Rogue and 10 Cloud9 next week.

#9 SK Gaming (2-6 0-0)

Movement: +1

SK Gaming was also inactive this week. They will be playing against 4 Rogue next week.

#10 Ghost Gaming (3-5 0-0)

Movement: +2

Ghost got wins against fellow bottom feeder Splyce and traded wins with OpTic Gaming. I believe that was an outlier. Ghost is still one of the weaker teams in the North American Division and will be playing to not get relegated at the end of the season. Also next week they have 3 NRG Gaming and Boston Major Champions 10 Cloud9. I think they lose all those matches.

#11 Splyce (2-7 1-0)

Movement: -3

Splyce lost all four of their games this week losing to Ghost and Renegades. Splyce will be fighting to not get relegated this season. Things don’t get easier next week as they play 5 OpTic Gaming and 2 Luminosity Gaming.

#12 Team Dignitas (0-6 0-0)

Movement: -1

Here lies the only winless team in the ESL Pro League. Things are not looking good for Team Dignitas moving forward. Looking at the rest of their schedule they play NRG in week 4 and in week 5 they play Cloud9. They don’t realistically have chance to pick up a win until week 6 as they have games against Ghost and Splyce. But it’s very likely Dignitas is heading back to the Mountain Dew League after only one season in the EPL.

Matches to Watch

1 Team Liquid vs 2 Luminosity Gaming

Match-up between North America’s current number 1 and 2 teams. Brazil vs USA should be a fun series.

3 NRG Esports vs 10 Cloud9

Can Cloud9 bounce back against the undefeated NRG Esports? Two talented sides face off.

5 OpTic Gaming vs 6 Renegades

OpTic and Renegades are well matched teams. This should be a couple of close games.
