Recap
The Boston College Eagles bounced back from their disappointing loss to Purdue with a victory over Temple by a final score of 45-35 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles saw big games from two of their running backs, star AJ Dillon and redshirt junior Ben Glines, who combined for 281 yards and three touchdowns.
Their great performance was complemented by a good day for quarterback Anthony Brown who threw for 139 yards and two scores on 15-for-33 passing. The Eagles offense looked to be back and humming after a game in which it seemed that nothing could go right. There is fear on the BC sideline, however, as Dillon did not play for most of the second half with an apparent ankle injury.
The BC defense had to step up and played a strong game, despite giving up 35 points. The ball-hawking secondary duo of Hamp Cheevers and Taj-Amir Torres each recorded an interception, both of which resulted in touchdown drives for the Eagles. Special teams is still an issue for BC, however. The team lost possession on a kickoff fumble which resulted in a touchdown return for the Owls, while also missing an extra point. A change at kicker late in the first half seemed to resolve this as freshman Danny Longman came into the game and went a perfect 4-for-4 to close out the game.

Outlook
The next few weeks will be crucial to the success of the Eagles’ season. The conference portion of the season really kicks off next week against NC State, followed by tough games against Louisville, Miami, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Florida State in consecutive weeks with a bye in between Louisville and Miami.
Winning at least four of these next six games would be huge for Boston College, who feel that they have a chance to contend for big bowl games as representatives for the ACC. Currently third in the ACC Atlantic standings, the Eagles have a chance to leapfrog NC State next week, which would set up a potential huge faceoff of the top two teams in the division when Clemson travels to Chestnut Hill in November.
