As first reported by Marc Spears of ESPN, the Hawks have traded center Dwight Howard and 31st pick to the Hornets in return for Miles Plumlee, Marco Bellineli, and the 41st pick in the draft. The news ironically broke in the midst of Howard doing Q&A on twitter about the draft and trades.

With the endless trade rumors swirling around the league, this was not one of those rumors before it happened. It comes as a surprise after Howard finished his first season with the Hawks and put up very respectable numbers of 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game on over 63% shooting.

Possibly the most unexpected piece of the trade was that it seemed to have been jokingly hinted at by each team’s twitter account earlier in the day.

The lack of star power returning to Atlanta in the trade begs the question if there were unknown issues going on between he and the team. For more information on this story, stay tuned to ArmchairAllamericans.com.
