Even though basketball isn’t here yet, 2K Sports is keeping it alive through their upcoming game “NBA 2K19”. For the past two years, the game has released how some of the top players look in the game while revealing their rating. It is no question that the vast majority of NBA players play this game, and most are anxious to see what their rating is. Some think their rating is too low, and they go on social media and express how they feel. From a loyal 2K player myself, there have been some questionable ratings so far that have dropped. On Wednesday they dropped Trae Young‘s, and it doesn’t seem like he was too fond of his rating.
How the other rookies stack up
The first three picks of the past draft had their rating dropped first. Before we go any further, last year Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz were both rated 80 when coming into 2K18. DeAndre Ayton was the first pick of the draft and has a 79 overall rating this season. Many people had a problem with this because of Ball and Fultz rating last year, and you see how that panned out for both of them. Marvin Bagley has a 78 overall rating, and Luka Doncic has a 79 overall rating. Doncic is more skilled the Bagley, which is probably why he is rated higher than him, despite being drafted after him.
How does Trae Young compare
All of these players have a different skill set than one other, so their ratings are strictly based on what that player specializes in. As far as skill, Doncic and Young may be the most comparable due to their high play making ability. What Young does better than all of those players is score. One of the things he doesn’t have like the other players is strength and rebounding. With that being said, the rating for Young will be close to other top rookies.
Too high, too low
I expected Young to probably have a 77 or 78 overall rating. He does some things that the other rookies can’t do, and also has some things he doesn’t do well like them. Overall, they did the right thing keeping his rating around the same ballpark as the other rookies surrounding him. Also, they actually had his face scan on point.
