Key Player: Devonta Freeman
Devonta Freeman played a monumental role in the Atlanta Falcons success. He racked up 106 rushing yards on 21 carries, adding one rushing touchdown. On the receiving end, he caught three passes for 32 yards. Without Freeman, the Falcons offense would have struggled heavily and the outcome of the game would have been much different.
GAME RECAP AND ANALYSIS
The Detroit Lions failed to ever take the lead during the game. They did, however, hold the lead for a few seconds before the touchdown was reversed and the game was called.
With less than 20 seconds to go, Matthew Stafford found Golden Tate who reached for the end zone after completing the pass. First ruled a touchdown, the call was reversed and by rule took a mandatory ten seconds off the clock. There was only eight seconds left on the clock after the play, resulting in the end of the game and a Falcons victory.
The Lions defense played well, securing three interceptions on the day, one of which Glover Quinn took all the way for a touchdown.
The Lions will look to move on as they face division rival, the Minnesota Vikings, next week. The Falcons will look to continue their undefeated season against the Buffalo Bills.
