Tyler King, John Gillon and Chris Phillips are back with the Armchair Field of 64 Projection.
The postseason projections saw significant changes from a week ago, as college baseball enters the final frenzy.
Oregon State (2), Arkansas (3) and Ole Miss (4) made significant jumps following emphatic series victories, while Stanford (5) and North Carolina (7) dropped due to less-than-stellar weekends. East Carolina (8) made another significant jump, up from 16 a week ago.
Minnesota (15) fell from a top-8 seed to the next-to-last host, while Connecticut dropped from the host line to being a two seed. Oklahoma State and UCLA also dropped from hosting to visiting. Meanwhile, Stetson (16), with an RPI of 7, jumped into the final host spot, paired with the Gainesville regional, and Duke (10), following a series win over North Carolina, jumped back among the host line. Coastal Carolina was the final team to leap into the hosting party.
Louisville, now a two seed, and Southern Miss, now a three, switched places in the Ole Miss regional.
Illinois and Baylor jumped into the field, replacing Georgia Tech and West Virginia, respectively.
North Carolina State is a team that almost hosted, but we couldn’t agree on them. However before you form a mob Wolfpack fans, your team plays Florida State this weekend in a game we feel will determine an ACC host.
The ACC and SEC each had four hosts as a conference, while the Big 12 and Pac 12 have two. The Sun Belt, American, Big Ten and Atlantic Sun each had one regional host.
The SEC led the way with 11 total bids.
