The Chicago Bulls faced the Charlotte Hornets two games in a row. It seemed as though home court advantage played a crucial role for both teams. Chicago won the closer game at home on Oct. 24 while Charlotte demolished Chicago on their home court on Oct. 26.

Mayhem on Madison Street

The game on Oct. 24 came down to the final seconds. Zach Lavine sank two free throws to secure the first win for Chicago this season. For the fourth consecutive game, LaVine scored over 30 points. He led the team in scoring with 34 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Cameron Payne was the hot hand from downtown with a stellar 7-of-11 shooting night. He ended the game with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Charlotte put up a valiant effort but Chicago prevailed. Kemba Walker led his team in scoring by posting 23 points, six assists and three rebounds. The biggest lead for Chicago was 11 points. Charlotte’s biggest lead of the night was eight points. Both teams showcased their ability to scratch and claw their way back into the game.

Injury Report

Bobby Portis suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee after colliding with Charlotte’s backup point guard Tony Parker. He will be sidelined for four to six weeks. Kris Dunn has a similar injury and he will be out four to six weeks. They both join Lauri Markkanen and Denzel Valentine on the injury list.

Onslaught in Charlotte

The intensity of Portis and the playmaking of Dunn were missed in Chicago’s blowout loss against Charlotte. LaVine would lead the team again in scoring by posting 20 points, four assists and three rebounds. Jabari Parker had a solid night off of the bench by scoring 19 points. It clearly wasn’t enough to slow down Charlotte who were in sixth gear.

Walker looked unstoppable on the defensive end for Chicago. He led his team in scoring with 30 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

It’ll be time to see who steps up with all the injuries for the Bulls.
