As the regular season closes in, the Chicago Bulls hosted the Indiana Pacers in its second-to-last preseason game. Chicago started out slow in their other preseason games, but the story was different on Oct. 10.
A good win against Indiana
Chicago’s starting lineup quickly outplayed Indiana in the first half. Chicago played at a much faster pace by having great ball movement and impressive defensive sequences. Chicago’s draft picks, Chandler Hutchison and Wendell Carter Jr. did not have great games, but they fed off of their teammates energy.
There were three starters from Chicago scoring over 20 points. Zach LaVine showcased his elite abilities by scoring 22 points, four rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes. He’s been on a tear lately and he’s showing the fans that he’s more than capable of having a dominant season.
Lavine had an explosive two-handed dunk that is trending over social media. It doesn’t even look like he tore his ACL.
Justin Holiday tallied 22 points, three assists and two rebounds. He has been working hard on his jump shot in the offseason and he put it on full display. Bobby Portis had a big night by posting 20 points, six rebounds and two assists. Chicago’s head coach, Fred Hoiberg, moved Jabari Parker and Robin Lopez to the bench for this preseason game.
Hoiberg will probably rotate the starting lineup occasionally this season, but Parker played well coming off the bench. He tallied 11 points, six rebounds and two assists. He didn’t have the best shooting night, but he played a lot better than the last game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
These young players are easy to get their season started on a good note and they proved it against Indiana. On the other side of the court, Thaddeus Young calculated a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana has a great core too and competition will be fierce in the Eastern Conference.
The majority of the game was a blowout, but late in the fourth quarter, Indiana cut the deficit to 10 points. Chicago’s bench players quickly diminished the comeback and they ended up winning by 15 points.
Bittersweet Ending Caused By Nuggets
The Bulls hosted the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 12. Chicago’s last preseason game told a different tale.
Chicago had a bittersweet ending to the preseason by losing to Denver by five points. Both teams contributed to an entertaining game. Wendell Carter Jr. posted 10 points and nine rebounds. LaVine added 12 points into the team’s effort.
Holiday and Portis both scored 10 points and contributed well on rebounds by totaling 10 combined. Parker played well coming off the bench by scoring 19 points and six rebounds.
Denver overshadowed these solid performances by looking a bit sharper with their intensity at both ends of the floor. Chicago is eager to get their season started at 7 p.m. CT on Oct. 18 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
