The Chicago Bulls had a roller coaster in the win and loss column this week. The New York Knicks hosted Chicago in a close double overtime contest at Madison Square Garden. Chicago didn’t have the same luck at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans as the New Orleans Pelicans cruised to a victory.
Double Overtime Finale
Chicago and New York put on a phenomenal showing that extended into double overtime. It was a back and forth contest until the end, and Chicago prevailed.
The team rode the wave of Zach LaVine‘s excellent performance. He scored ten of his 41 points in the overtime periods. LaVine also added four rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Jabari Parker had a nice shooting night by adding in 15 points and eight rebounds. Wkwendeendell Carter Jr. is turning into a double-double machine. He snagged a total of 13 rebounds to go along with his 11 points.
For New York, Enes Kanter led his team in scoring and rebounding. He had a towering 24 rebounds to go along with 23 points. The undrafted rookie Allonzo Trier added 21 points to the game, but it wasn’t enough to surpass Chicago.
Davis Soars Over Chicago
Carter Jr., Cristiano Felicio and Robin Lopez did all they could to stop Anthony Davis, but it didn’t work. Davis destroyed the dynamic defense of Chicago by tallying 32 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.
LaVine led the team in scoring with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists. Parker and Carter Jr. tallied double-doubles. Parker stuffed the stat line with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Carter Jr. added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Chicago plays their next contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland is sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but they will be hungry for their second win on the season. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CT on Nov. 10 in the United Center.
