The Brooklyn Nets during Thursday’s NBA Draft had the 29th and the 40th picks in the draft. For the first time With the 29th pick, they selected Dzanan Musa, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Bosnia-Herzegovina who has been labeled as the “Bosnian Scoring Machine”. He can score the basketball and is at the perfect height to be a wing player. Many scouts have compared him to Bojan Bogdanovic¬†

The Nets then selected Rodions Kurucs from Latvia. Kurucs is also a 6-foot-9 but plays small forward. Brooklyn also signed Theo Pinson to a two-way contract who played for the North Carolina Tar Heels and won a national championship with the team in 2017.

Who are these guys?

Musa is a lanky shooter that has a chance to be a good NBA player. He definitely will need to develop his body while also developing his shot-creating ability.

Kurucs might actually be better than Musa from an NBA-ready standpoint. Kurucs can create his own shots while being a good 3-point shooter. His biggest issue is going to be quickness which can be worked on.

The team acquired the 29th pick in a trade with the Toronto Raptors in a package that got the Nets DeMarre Carroll. After this draft, the Nets are finally out of the hole they dug themselves in that trade that went down five years ago with the Boston Celtics. They were without their first round picks from 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The Nets were the laughing stock of the league because of this. Next year, if they don’t trade away the pick, they will have their own first round pick.
