Jeremy Pruitt has made it known since he arrived that he wanted football players. Regardless of position, he wanted athletes that can do a little bit of everything. In Len’Neth Whitehead, the Vols are getting one heck of an athlete. At 6-1, 230lbs, Whitehead is a bruiser at running back, and a potential star at linebacker. Add in a nearly 40 inch vertical, and you begin to see the potential.
The Vols battled with South Carolina for a long time in this recruitment, and held off a late surge from UCLA to win. It looked like each school had a legit shot at some point, but the Vols giving him a chance at running back played a big role. However, I see this being a Jeremy Banks/Quavaris Crouch situation with linebacker being the better position for him in the long term.
The most important thing was getting him on campus, and the Vols were able to do just that.
