Jeremy Pruitt has placed a big emphasis on adding speed to the Vols roster in the last couple of cycles. In Jimmy Holiday, the Vols are getting a ton of it. The speedy athlete out of Mississippi chose Tennessee over his commitment to TCU.
While he played as a dual-threat QB, and will probably get a shot there, Holiday projects best at receiver. With sub 4.4 speed, Holiday could be a nightmare in the slot for opposing defenses. His ability to make plays in the open field could earn him some early playing time, whether on offense or special teams.
The last time a Vol QB switched to receiver, we got Jauan Jennings. I’m not saying Holiday is the next Jennings, however, as they have completely different skill sets. Jauan had to rely on improving his route running during his transition to make up for the lack of break- away speed. With Holiday, just get the ball in his hands and let him go to work in the open field.
