The other MMA show on Friday night takes place inside Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville CT for the first half of a Bellator MMA weekend doubleheader.

Bellator 231 and 232 will both be held in Uncasville, with Bellator 232 taking place on Saturday night.

More on Bellator 232 later on.

Our focus for this day, Bellator 231, will be televised inside the United States on Paramount Network and streamed on DAZN.

Prelim action begins Friday at 6 p.m. EDT, 3 p.m. PDT on DAZN and the Bellator MMA app, with the main card following at 9 p.m. EDT, 6 p.m. PDT on Paramount Network and DAZN.

Highlighting the five-fight main card this Friday evening is a Heavyweight main event rematching Frank Mir (18-13) with Roy Nelson (23-17).

Being a non-title fight, this contest will be a maximum of three rounds at five minutes per round.

The first meeting:

Mir and Nelson fought previously in 2011 during UFC 130’s co-main event on pay-per-view. That evening, Frank Mir scored a unanimous decision victory against Roy Nelson.

Contender Comparison:

Heading into Friday night’s main event of the evening, Frank Mir is the taller contestant, standing 6-foot-3, three inches taller than Roy Nelson at six feet even.

Mir is currently on a four-fight losing streak as he enters this fight, most recently dropping a second-round knockout vs. Javy Ayala in Bellator 214 last December.

In the other corner, Nelson is currently on a three-fight losing streak.

Last time out, he dropped a unanimous decision to Mirko Cro Cop on Feb. 16 during Bellator 216.

This turned out to be Cro Cop’s final fight, as he was forced to retire from mixed martial arts on Mar. 1 due to a stroke.

The Tale of the Tape:

Tapology shows that Frank Mir owns a seven-inch reach advantage (79 inches to 72 inches) over Roy Nelson heading into this contest.

Prediction: Roy Nelson by unanimous decision.

Four other fights make up Bellator 231’s main card on Friday night:

Phil Davis (20-5) vs. Karl Abrektsson (9-2) [Light Heavyweight, co-main event]

Ed Ruth (7-1) vs. Jason Jackson (10-3) [Welterweight]

Bec Rawlings (7-8, Bellator MMA debut) vs. Ilara Joanne (8-4) [Women’s Flyweight]

Jake Hager (2-0) vs. Anthony Garrett (4-2) [Heavyweight]
