Bec Rawlings has returned to mixed martial arts. On Tuesday, published reports indicated that Rawlings, who previously fought as a strawweight and flyweight in the UFC, will be joining the active roster in Bellator MMA. MMAFighting.com has reported that Rawlings has yet to sign a contract with the combat sports promotion.

She has not fought on an MMA card since the Apr. 7, 2018 UFC 223 card when, during the TV prelims on FS1, Rawlings suffered a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Ashlee Evans-Smith. This was her fourth consecutive defeat.

In the aftermath of the event, it was revealed that the UFC and Rawlings severed their ties, this after a nearly three and a half-year stint as a competitor for the promotion.

Post-Octagon

Rawlings was not without work for very long, as that summer, she appeared in the initial Bare Knuckle FC event, securing the Women’s Featherweight Police Gazette title. That night, Rawlings defeated Alma Garcia by second-round technical knockout due to a doctor’s stoppage in the card’s co-main event.

Rawlings later successfully defended her belt during Bare Knuckle FC 2 via split decision against Britain Hart and during Bare Knuckle FC 4 against Cecilia Flores by unanimous decision. As far as Rawlings’ MMA career is concerned, she is a veteran of 15 such fights.

Prior to her stint in the UFC, Rawlings went 1-1 in the late BRACE MMA promotion in her home country of Australia, winning against Sarah Morrison (second-round armbar) in BRACE 14 in February of 2012.

Following several more fights in Australia, Rawlings was signed to women’s MMA promotion INVICTA Fighting Championships and had an opportunity to secure its strawweight title in 2013. On Jan. 5, 2013, Rawlings and Carla Esparza fought to a judges’ decision, with the fight won by Esparza.

In December of 2014, Rawlings made her UFC debut against current INVICTA fighter Heather Jo Clark, losing to her via unanimous decision. Heading into Bellator MMA, Rawlings’ career record stands at 7-8.

We’ll keep you posted as to when and where Bec Rawlings’ first fight in Bellator will be.
