Cats Key Player

Even though this is the first game of the year, Kentucky needs to get Kevin Knox going early. He could be an absolute game changer this year. Kevin is an extremely versatile player that can attack the defense in multiple ways. He’s shown off a little bit of what he can do in the exhibition games, now that the season is here, it’s time for him to take his game to the next level.

Wolverines Key Player

Connor Toolson is back for his senior year at Utah Valley. Last year, he led the Wolverines in ppg and mpg. The guard from Salt Lake city helped Utah Valley to their best record since the 2013-2014 season. As one of the leaders of this team, Connor can be a big part of the Wolverines making some noise in the Western Athletic conference this season.

Game Preview and Analysis

College Basketball is back! It has felt like forever since we’ve been able to say that. As most schools are playing their first game tomorrow night, the Cats are trying to start off the season strong with a win against the Wolverines.

This could be a huge year for Kentucky Basketball. This team has all the athleticism and length you need. In order for them to do their thing, they’re going to have to be patient. With 8 players that have never played at the Collegiate level, it’s going to take some time for this team to mesh. However, once they do, it’s going to be glorious.

Every year Cal says the same things, “we stink” or “we’re just not there yet” or “we can’t play a full game”… you get it. This season he’s really made it a point to talk about how bad this team is every single time he touches a microphone. He implores fans to not set high expectations for this team because it’s going to be a very slow start.

Is Cal just going through the motions this year? Maybe. However, what he’s saying makes sense. This team is extremely young, and if they’re going to be any good, they’re going to have to learn how to play with each other first before they can even think about winning in March. We’ll have a much better outlook on the season by this time next week. Playing Vermont and Kansas is going to be a great test for these guys.

As far as the Utah Valley game goes, I fully expect these young Cats to come out of the gate running. It won’t be the prettiest game you’ve seen, but they’ll get the W by at least 20, but don’t be surprised if they win by double that.

Kentucky has a lot of potential to be great this season. Hopefully, they can live up to it. Now it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the next few months of sports!

Ever since I was 2 years old, I was rocking UK booties and mumbling the fight song. It was all UK basketball until I discovered the Cincinnati Bengals and the Reds in ’05 then the Miami Heat in ’06. Ever since then, I’ve lived and breathed sports! My Twitter account is where I avidly voice my opinion in relation to sports, and I’m always ready for a good argument.
