My love affair with sports began at the age of three, when I was the biggest cheerleader of my brother’s Little League team. I knew that I was sucked in at the age of eight, when I bawled my eyes outside Shea Stadium after watching Mike Piazza play his last game as a New York Met. To this day I am a diehard Mets, and Jets fan. There is very little joy in my life.
As much as I adore to watch sports, growing up I loved playing them even more. There was rarely a day of the week I wasn’t being shuttled off to some sort of practice. My favorite sports were softball, where I was coached by my dad until I reached middle school, and gymnastics, which I am still involved with as a coach and student manager at Rutgers University.
