The NCAA Baseball Tournament is now underway. Unfortunately, the first two games scheduled in the Athens Regional were affected today by inclement weather. Duke (2), Troy (3), Campbell (4), and Georgia (1) are the four teams in the Athens Regional.

Duke (40-16) and Troy (42-19) began their contest Friday afternoon, but the game underwent an hours-long rain delay in the middle of the 5th inning. The two teams didn’t resume play until 9:15 p.m. The game finally concluded at 10:30 p.m. on Friday with Troy coming out on top, 6-0. Troy right fielder Joey Denison led the way for the Trojans with four RBIs.

Because of the long rain delay, the Georgia baseball team’s game against Campbell had to be pushed back until Saturday at noon. The losers of the Duke-Troy game and Georgia-Campbell game will play each other on Saturday at 4 p.m. followed by a game between the two winners at 8 p.m. Georgia and Campbell will both play two games on Saturday regardless of the outcome in their head-to-head match-up at noon.

The regional schedule will conclude on June 4th, barring further delays.
