We, just like the rest of the world, were stunned when the Syracuse Orange topped the Clemson Tigers in a Friday the 13th matchup in New York.

The staff chose Clemson to win by a long shot, of course, in our last staff pick em’s, but in this week’s we’ve switched it up a bit.

Check it out.

Louisville at Florida State (12 p.m.)

Shaquira Speaks: Florida StateLamar Jackson has been struggling lately behind his O-line and the ability to find a receiver downfield. FSU beat Duke last weak 17-10, but that was an easy win. However, they’re still seething from the tough loss against Miami, I expect them to bounce back on a real team like Louisville.”

Chandler Beard: Louisville“Louisville has not looked very good lately on the defensive side of the ball but, have looked very solid on the offensive side of the ball. I think regardless of how bad there defense is James Blackman makes mistakes at crucial times late in the game. Cam Akers and Jacques Patrick will have big games but, it won’t be enough to beat Lamar. Louisville wins in a offensive shootout.”

Sam Tschida: Florida State 34-30 – “The ‘Noles running game should be able to run all over the Card’s defense, and while Lamar Jackson will have another big game, I think the FSU offense scores enough to beat Louisville, while the defense doesn’t give up too many points. Here’s three things to watch for and then see where it ranks on my watchability guide.”

Logan Qualk: Florida State“It’s a shame that this game is a noon game, but both teams are not having the finest of seasons. This game is in Tallahassee, which I think really favors the Seminoles. Louisville went into NC State’s house and got stomped, but I did not expect that to happen. Vegas must give the Seminoles the defensive edge, which is probably why they are a 6.5-point favorite. I am going to agree.”

Pitt at Duke (12:20 p.m)

Speaks: Duke “This is really a coin flip match on Saturday. Pitt is little better than Duke but Duke isnt too far behind. Im going with the upset.”

Beard: Pitt“Pitt didn’t look bad last week against NC State and their defense actually impressed me for the most part. I look for their defense to play another good game. Key thing to watch in this game is the quarterback situation between Ben DiNucci and Kenny Pickett. That is what’ll decide this game. Pitt will win close.”

Qualk: Duke“Both teams are not having the finest of seasons, but this could be a pretty competitive game. If Duke can get their offense going, then I see no reason why they should not pick up the W at home. They are an eight-point favorite this weekend, but I think that Pitt might keep it closer than that.”

Tschida: Duke – “The Blue Devils played well against FSU but simply couldn’t convert long drives and turnovers into points. Ben DiNucci should have a good game for the Panthers, but Shaun Wilson will run all over the Pitt defense, and I’m taking the Blue Devils. See where I have it ranked on my watchability guide.

Boston College at Virginia (12:30 p.m)

Speaks: Virginia“Even though BC was successful in the upset over Louisville, it wont be enough against Benkert and the Virginia offense.”

Beard: Virginia“Coming off of a great win over Louisville, Boston College is going to come back down to their true form. Their offense only performed because how bad the Louisville defense is, they won’t do that against Virginia. Virginia will run away with this one.”

Qualk: Virginia“Virginia is coming off a pretty tight W versus struggling UNC, but they were on the road, so maybe that came into play. Virginia is at home this weekend and I look for them to have a pretty close game with Boston College. I think a field goal separates Virginia and Boston College, with Virginia taking this one down.”

Tschida: Virginia 27-13 – “BC’s offense finally found it’s footing last week against Louisville, but I don’t see them having the same success against a stout UVA defense. Kurt Benkert will have another big game, and I’m taking the Hoos. See where it ranks on my watchability guide.”

Syracuse at No. 8 Miami (3:30 p.m.)

Speaks: Miami“As much as I want to go with the upset here, I can’t bring my fingers to type it. The game that the Orange had last week was one in a million and there no way it’ll happen twice. Going with Miami here to stay undefeated.”

Beard: Miami“Last week I said there is no way Syracuse upsets Clemson. I was wrong they are coming off of what in my opinion was the greatest upset so far this college football season. With Eric Dungey at quarterback, I could very well see them doing it again. I don’t think they will though, I think Rosier pulls this one out by 3 points.”

Qualk: Miami“Once again, I don’t see Miami blowing their undefeated record this weekend, although it is certainly possible. Syracuse loves to throw the ball, which could pose a threat to the ‘Canes defense, but I don’t think it will be enough. Miami has been getting pretty lucky lately, but I think if they get it done on the ground, then they should be fine.”

Tschida: Miami 31-20 – “Syracuse had us flying high after beating Clemson at home last week. But they’ll fall back to earth when they make the trek down to Miami. The conditions were perfect for an upset last week, but Miami isn’t on a short week and is at home. The Canes may start slow, but they won’t need a miracle this week to beat ‘Cuse. See where is ranks on my watchability guide.”

UNC at No. 14 Virginia Tech (3:30 pm.)

Speaks: Virginia Tech“VT has been rolling lately and they’ve found their way into the top 15. They won’t let the Tar Heels take that away from them.”

Beard: Virginia Tech“Virginia Tech has looked great this year and is an ACC title contender and UNC not so much. UNC doesn’t stand a chance in this one. It won’t even be close. Virginia Tech wins big. Expect a big game from Josh Jackson.”

Qualk: Virginia Tech“Okay, I know plenty of upsets have been happening lately, but not this weekend in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech should win this one by at least two touchdowns, but Vegas is thinking three touchdowns separate these two teams. The Hokies are a twenty-one-point favorite this weekend, so look for them to try and cover that at home in Blacksburg.”

Tschida: Virginia Tech 38-10 – “This one shouldn’t be close. Expect a big game from Josh Jackson, and the Hokies will roll to a big win at home. See where it ranks on my watchability guide.”

Wake Forest at Georgia Tech (7:30 p.m.)

Speaks: Wake Forest“With time to prepare for the triple option, it’ll keep the game close and hopefully they can pull off the upset.”

Beard: Wake Forest – “Wake Forest had a whole two weeks to prepare for this game as the week following the Clemson game was their bye week. There past two games they have just fallen short of pulling upsets over FSU and Clemson. This week they won’t fall short and they will beat Georgia Tech pretty soundly.”

Qualk: Georgia Tech“This is certainly a tough one to call! I’m thinking this one could certainly be a very close game, but I am going to give the edge to the Yellow Jackets because of the home field advantage factor. Also, they’re coming off a pretty upsetting last second defeat to the Hurricanes last weekend, which might fire them up. Wake almost pulled off the upset vs. the Seminoles, so they’re surely showing positive signs of life. I just think that the Yellow Jacket triple-option is going to be tough for the Demon Deacons to stop, but look for this to be a close game!”

Tschida: Wake Forest 24-21 – “Probably the most underrated game of the entire week. Wake comes in off of a bye with one of the top defenses in the country, facing one of the best rushing offenses in the country. I’m taking Wake in an upset, and Dave Clawson gets his first signature win in Winston Salem. With John Wolford back from injury, I think Greg Dortch has a huge game against the Jackets, and Wake moves to 5-2. See where it ranks on my watchability guide.”
