Its the middle of the season and the Atlantic Coastal Conference is still constantly shifting. The title nor division titles are secured and thats what makes college football fun.

Many thought Louisville might be a front-runner but with a loss to Clemson and a Thursday night 39-25 upset loss to NC State, that might not be the case anymore.

Dark Horse NC State is beginning to take form as they sit atop the Atlantic Coastal Division and look down on six other teams. They’re a surprising 5-1 now.

Many more games are set to take place Saturday, Oct. 7. The staff set picks for week five, here are our picks for week six.

Wake Forest at Clemson (12:00 pm)

Shaquira Speaks: Clemson  “Definitely going with Clemson in this matchup. Kelly Bryant and three recievers would have to go down for them to lose to Wake Forest. The Tigers’ offense and defense is lightyears ahead of the Deacons.”

Chandler Beard: Wake Forest “This is a trap game for Clemson and Wake Forest is going to pull the upset. It is going to be a close game but Wake by 7.”

Sam TschidaClemson 35-17 – “Wake should keep this close for a bit, but eventually, Clemson pulls away. The Deacs played extremely well on defense last week, but Clemson has a much better O-line and QB, and while Kelly Bryant isn’t perfect, he should have a decent game. John Wolford and Greg Dortch make a few plays to keep in interesting, but the Tiger defense stuffs them and pulls away. Here’s my three things to watch.

Logan Qualk: Clemson – “This will be a blow out for Clemson. Plain and simple. They might be better than last year.”

Duke at Virginia (12:20 pm)

Speaks: Virginia – “I’m going with the Cavaliers in this matchup. I feel like they’re both on the same level defensively and offensively. It’ll will be close but UVA will be on the winning side.”

Beard: Duke – “In the past this would be the battle of the worst teams in the ACC, but now thats not the case this is a battle between two solid teams. I think the Duke defense limits Kurt Benkert and the Cavaliers offense. Duke will win by 7.”

TschidaVirginia 24-21 – “Another toss-up with two evenly matched teams. UVA has had two weeks to prepare for a mediocre Duke offense, but still, expect Shaun Wilson and Daniel Jones to have decent games. I expect Kurt Benkert to pass his way for a Cavs victory and put the Hoos at 4-1.

Qualk: Duke – “Might be a good game, but I like Duke, even though they’re on the road. If their offense comes together, then they should come out with the W.”

Pitt at Syracuse (12:30 pm)

Speaks: Pitt – “The Panthers have thoroughly impressed me this season. Depsite some losses this season, I think they’ll grab the win on momentum.”

Beard: Pitt – “This is a huge game for both teams. Whoever wins I believe will be bowl eligible and the other will be at home sitting on the couch come December. I think Pitt is going to come out and stay hot on the offensive side of the ball and the defense will do enough to come away with a 14 point win. Here’s what to watch for.

TschidaPitt 38-34 – “Max Browne had a big game last week, and expect him to continue the success this week. Neither team had great defenses, and Eric Dungey should also expect a big day. I think Pitt scores enough to outlast Cuse, and gets back to .500 on the year.”

Qualk: Pitt – “Might be a close one, but I’m going with Pitt.”

Miami at Florida State (3:30 pm)

Speaks: – Florida State – “This was a hard one for me and it may be something as little at not turning a third down into a first down or one incompletion that makes this game a toss up. Although, James Blackman is still trying to find his rhythm, FSU will pull one from Miami by 3.”

Beard: Miami – “This hasn’t been FSU’s year. Last week they got quite lucky beating Wake Forest but a win is a win. Miami is going to end the streak though and FSU is going to take a 14 point loss. The FSU defense just won’t be able to contain Malik Rozier.”

Tschida: Miami 24-20 – “Florida State really could win this game, but so far I haven’t seen what I need to pick them. The ‘Noles may move the ball well but probably still won’t convert in the red zone, and Malik Rosier and Mark Walton should do just enough on the Nole defense to squeak out a win and end the streak.”

Qualk: Florida State  This is going to be a great game; I can feel it. It is going to be close, but I am taking the  Seminoles at home. Florida State’s defense is second to none, I am going with Derwin James and Company to get it done in Tallahassee this weekend. Here’s what to watch for.

Notre Dame at UNC (3:30 pm)

Speaks: Notre Dame – “This will be a pretty lax game for them. They got lucky by getting a  slow starting Tar Heel team.”

Beard: Notre Dame – “This is a rebuilding year for UNC and it has shown as they have started off the year 1-4 and got absolutely destroyed last week by Georgia Tech. This week will be no different and they will lose again by 28 points.”

TschidaNotre Dame 38-7 – “North Carolina has been ravaged by injury, and the Irish should pile this on. Maybe the Heels keep it close for a bit, but Notre Dame should win big.”

Qualk: Notre Dame – “I like the Fighting Irish to take this one on the road.”

Virginia Tech at Boston College (7:15)

Speaks: Virginia Tech – “Definitely taking Tech in this late Saturday night game. Boston College’s best player Harold Landry can’t beat Virginia Tech team by himself.”

Beard: Virginia Tech – “Boston College is not that good this year and Virginia Tech has been very impressive. This game won’t be close from even the start. Virginia Tech wins by 21”

TschidaVirginia Tech 34-7- “BC’s offense is really bad, and I don’t expect them to move the ball very well against VT. THe Eagle defense may get some stops and force Josh Jackson to make mistakes to keep things interesting, but eventually, the Hokies pull away.

Qualk: Virginia Tech – “The Hokies are coming off a pretty upsetting defeat last week vs the Clemson Tigers. I like them to get back in the win column this week vs BC.”
