The Aggies suffered a devastating loss against Auburn on Saturday, blowing a ten-point lead with just over five minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Texas A&M was in control for the majority of the game and appeared to have the advantage both offensively and defensively. The Aggies had a possession time of 38:41, leaving the Tigers with just 21:19, and the defense allowed only 19 rushing yards on 21 carries, improving significantly from the 143 allowed rush yards in the previous loss to Mississippi State. The Aggie offense collapsed in the fourth quarter: Seth Small missed a 37-yard field goal to put the Aggies up 27-14, Kellen Mond threw an interception in Auburn territory, and penalties prevented a potential game-winning drive.

Texas A&M was looking to get back on track with a win at Auburn, following a disappointing 28-13 loss to Mississippi State. However, the Aggies dropped to 5-4 on the year and 3-3 in SEC play, with Aggie fans panicking yet again about the dreaded month of November. On a more positive note, some adjustments were made in the rush defense, while Trayveon Williams also had a bounce back game.

The junior running back rushed for a season-low 26 yards against Mississippi State but led the Aggies in rushing and receiving yards against Auburn. Williams, the second leading rusher in the SEC with 931 yards on the season, rushed for 107 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. He extended his offensive presence with five receptions for 75 yards and a receiving touchdown. Williams is deserving of the Player of the Week title for the Aggies, scoring all three of A&M’s touchdowns and bouncing back from his worst game of the season.

Williams must carry his momentum into the upcoming game against Ole Miss for the Aggies to be successful offensively. Texas A&M is looking to end a two-game losing streak and pick up another SEC West win. The Ole Miss Rebels take on the Aggies at Kyle Field at 11 A.M. on Saturday.
