They finally took control of a game early and never looked back to defeat the Knicks 117-91.
A Much Needed Blowout
The 76ers took full advantage of a poor Knicks team. After both teams started out hot early, the home team took control.
The Sixers shot 12-of-25 from three, good enough for an impressive 48 percent. The Knicks shot 6-of-29 which is 20.7 percent from three.
The most important part of this blowout was to allow Embiid to play fewer minutes. He finished with 30 minutes and has pulled from the game early in the fourth.
The league leader in minutes played this year will continue to need the 76ers to take advantage of lesser teams early.
Embiid isn’t accustomed to playing every game in a season so rest cannot be forgotten.
Head coach Brett Brown doesn’t have much depth on the bench, but he’s made nice adjustments.
Putting Mike Muscala as the backup center in place of Amir Johnson has been a better fit. Muscala offers more in terms of spacing the floor and rim protection compared to Johnson which is important when Ben Simmons is on the court.
Also, TJ McConnell continues to play well as the backup point guard to Simmons. His energy and ability to find his shot on the floor can’t be underestimated.
