GAME RECAP

This game had the makings of a nail biter early on as Texas Southern was not intimidated by top-seeded Xavier. The Musketeers found some separation with a 9-0 run midway through the first half to turn a 20-20 game into a nine point lead and later a 12 point lead at the half. Xavier jumped on the Tigers early in the second half and eliminated any doubt.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

On a night when three of Xavier’s starters scored 24 or more points, senior guard J.P. Macura led all scorers with 29 points on 11 of 16 from the field. Macura also had 6 rebounds and 5 steals in the performance.

Growing up I knew two things, I loved sports and I was a talented writer. With that in mind I set out to begin my career in sports journalism. As a lifelong fan of Spartan athletics, I decided to attend MSU and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. My other sports passion is Detroit sports, specifically the Detroit Lions (still waiting to witness my first playoff win). Since graduating from MSU, I have had the opportunity to write for various publications including MLive and Detroit Sports Nation. I am now excited to join Armchair All Americans and help cover Michigan State recruiting. Besides sports, I enjoy playing video games and listening to all kinds of genres of rock music. I currently reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Melissa.
